The department

Group Finance is the corporate staff department responsible for the external financial and regulatory reporting. Based at the Global Headquarters in Amsterdam, the Regulatory Policies & Oversight team consists of 9 regulatory experts (including prudential and ESG regulation) and change specialists and the Global Head of Regulatory Policies & Oversight whom you report to. The Regulatory Policies & Oversight team consists of a diverse group of experts with different nationalities and backgrounds and is part of the broader Policies & Procedures department (which next to the Regulatory Policies & Oversight department, consists of the IFRS policies and Reporting Control Management departments).

The primary focus of the role is providing guidance and advice to the External reporting team, Group Treasury department and large business units and subsidiaries, being the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and Germany, as well as the global network of Wholesale Banking.
It is a dynamic working environment as requirements and expectations of all stakeholders are continuously increasing. Besides external stakeholders, including supervisory authorities, auditors and industry groups, the department supports internal stakeholders by providing insight in key developments and high-quality advice on the impact of regulatory developments.

Your new role

As a Senior Expert Regulatory Policies, you monitor (inter)national developments about prudential legislation and regulation (e.g. Basel, CRR, CRD, BRRD, SRMR, DGS). You interpret and analyse these developments, transpose them into global policies for the Group and advise the bank their Group’s Executive Board, Group Finance, Group Treasury and other Business Lines on the application thereof.
You will work in the Regulatory Policies & Oversight department which is part of Policies & Procedures within the Group Finance business unit. You will work in a team of experts, who all have their own specialization and collaborate with them on complex topics .

Tasks & responsibilities:
  • Developing and ensuring consistency of the bank their regulatory (reporting) policies
  • Identifying, monitoring and participating in developments regarding prudential regulations – and reflecting these developments in reporting policies and business memos where appropriate.
  • Consulting with other financial institutions and regulatory bodies, ensuring maximum support for the bank their position and interests
  • Acting as a contact for Group and Business Line management regarding technical matters on regulations and policies
  • Guiding the change organization (COO Finance and COO Risk) in implementing the policies into the bank their processes and systems

How to succeed

You are an expert on prudential regulation and capable of overseeing and handling the increasing complexity of the regulatory frameworks. You can analyze specific cases, quickly finding and interpreting applicable rules. Your advice is practical, concise and clear.

Furthermore, you have:

  • A relevant master’s degree
    (e.g. in Finance)
  • Technical knowledge of and affinity with prudential regulation (e.g. Basel, CRR, CRD, BRRD, SRMR, DGS), and experience in banking supervisory matters
  • A keen eye for detail without losing the overall picture
  • E.g. a (Sr) Audit / Risk / Finance professional with a strong interest in regulations
  • A pleasant advisor on all levels within the organization
  • A structured worker, combining analytical skills and practical execution
  • Ambitious, pro-active and collaborative
