Your new role
The Global Ruminant R&D department has global responsibility for the development of new vaccines for large and small ruminants with a primary focus on cattle. The team is primarily based in Europe and in the US and collaborates with the global R&D network of Animal Health to develop and register new Ruminants vaccines in all markets of interest.

As an Associate Scientist, you will be involved in the different phases of vaccine development for viral infections in animals. You interact closely with colleagues within your own Ruminant R&D department and other departments such as manufacturing, quality, animal research and regulatory affairs.

Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
  • Growth, quantification and characterisation of viruses using in-vitro test systems.
  • Development of new test methods or production processes for new or existing vaccines.
  • Analysis of samples from in vitro (e.g. stability) and in vivo studies using molecular tools (e.g. PCR), immunoassays (e.g. ELISA), and cell based assays (cell culture, e.g. immunofluorescence staining).
  • Performing experiments and departmental tasks and procedures in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Safety Health and Environment (SHE) requirements.

What you’ll need to succeed
Bachelor degree (HLO) or Master's degree in a relevant subject area with minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • Experience in laboratory techniques associated within the areas of virology, cell culture as well as molecular and immunological techniques.
  • Experience with GLP and SHE requirements.
  • Proactive approach towards activities, with own initiative and enthusiasm
  • An adequate level of English (written and spoken) is necessary.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Excellent team player.

What you’ll get in return
Hays Detachering | This is a project that will start with a contract for 12 months through Hays. Extension to stay within the department is anticipated. In this position, you will get a competitive salary starting from 2,600 (based on experience) and your travel expenses are covered.
