Interim Nordics External Reporting Manager

About the role:
We are seeking an Interim External Reporting Manager - Nordics to join the Nordics finance team reporting into the EMEA Central Controller. The Finance team is responsible for the performance reporting and financial controls of all company’s business operations within Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Partnering with the business, the team operates within the accounting framework, producing financial reporting consistent with US GAAP.
The Accountant supports the Nordics operational managers to play a key role in the company’s global financial reporting, appropriate for a publicly traded US corporation. The person will play a key role in the
financial planning and reporting process, and will be expected to introduce improvements and efficiencies which will help to drive the business forward.

Responsibility:
  • Prepare and review external financial statements, including quarterly and annual reports, ensuring compliance with
    Norwegian, Swedish and Danish GAAP requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and filing of VAT returns in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Resolve tax-related queries from various stakeholders, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all tax matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving accounting standards, VAT legislation, and regulatory changes, ensuring the company's financial operations remain compliant.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
  • Manage payroll function with queries and journal entries during the month and be a key stakeholder in transfer of process to EMEA Payroll Hub
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Work with other finance and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support ad-hoc projects relating to financial reporting and tax issues as required.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Norwegian, Swedish or Danish GAAP is essential and US-GAAP is desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge with regards to revenue recognition accounting policies.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Financial Systems and Hyperion Financial Management is preferred
  • Enthusiastic and approachable and able to engage operational managers on financial matters
  • Strong project management skills to ensure all external reporting requirements are met
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel essential and Microsoft PowerPoint is desirable.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent or equivalent international accounting qualification
